Okay....but what does it mean that it is 3-star instead of 1-star? Is it 3 times more likely to win now? Is he 3 times more confident in this pick? The GOY titles are socially constructed....they have no meaning whatsoever. Again....just a marketing gimmick that is industry standard. I remember listening to Dave Cokin on a podcast concede that he has to come up with a title for a play so as to sell more picks. He said picks that have no titles do not sell as well. Look at the titles these touts give their plays.....most are nonsensical and have zero meaning.
My advice: Focus ONLY on the actual play and getting the best possible line.
Still think you guys are immune from advertising effects?
I agree with everything you say wholeheartedly!!
My only point is that no matter what Al's motivation is in this instance for rating plays, whether he truly believes
that the several 3* GOY today are really warranted and/or he is just using them as a marketing tool,
he is being a lot more intellectually honest(if that is the right word)both with himself and potential clients who might purchase the plays
than he was yesterday when his several GOY carried the same 1 unit rating as the other 1 unit ratings.
